The very first thing I tried was my grandma Nonna's Vietnamese coffee. It was horrible! They gave it to her black and it was so bitter that even she couldn't drink it so they gave her sweetened condensed milk and it was a little better.
Then I tried my mom's coconut mushroom soup. It was good and I really liked the flavor. It was a little spicy and salty...I even tasted the lime :)
Then I tried the vegetable spring rolls. I liked them even though they had vegetables that I usually don't like, like carrots (gross)!
The shaken beef was super good and my favorite thing I ate.
Finally, and the most adventurous, was the Vietnamese crepe with pork belly and tiger prawns. It's pictured with me and my Pappy. He's a BIG foodie too!! I have to say this wasn't my favorite. The prawns, pork belly and little sprouts were all really good but I really didn't like the crepe because it was more like an egg than a crepe.
Pretty much all of the flavors were completely new to me. I'd give Bamboo Bistro 4.5/5 stars.
This experience was so cool!
I loved having dinner with you and I enjoyed the food as much as you. Thank you for asking me and Pappy to join you on the first leg of your adventure! Love Nonna
ReplyDeleteI like having you come with me too! Love you Nonna.
DeleteMy first comment disappeared somewhere so if you are reading this twice, my apologies. I am definitely going to try the shaken beef and spring rolls this week with Jack. You're my new favorite foodie - even more so than Gordon Ramsey. Keep the "Fab' Fives" coming. We are enjoying reading about all of your interesting adventures! K. P.s. I am definitely adding that Indian place in Tustin to my "must try" list - thanks for the tip!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy that you're reading my blog! Let me know if you go to the Indian place, I'd love to go back.
